We received an email about lovely Elena Parker's new series on Food52, Dinner & a Movie & instead of cooking something up, we'll leave it to the pros. Check out Elena's wonderful choices for a Spanish-themed menu in keeping with the spirit of Vicki Cristina Barcelona. It's delicious & quite easy, too.
Emilio de Benito plays Granada in the very romantic Spanish flamenco guitar scene (video).
[repeat from 17 September 2008... but with additional photo & new collage. Still love these earrings & boots & still read Flamenco World. The power struggle with the cat is mostly over; we give up. We won't give up on the causes on this site, though. But we do need to rest...so more repeats this week. Apologies.]
GG & her editor love these accessories from Flamenco World. We've read the online magazine for years & still can only daydream about a flamenco class. GG likes to stomp around on her pink paw-pads, & has done so for several hours. GG covets a pair of Spanish earrings. Honestly, can you see how she would be able to wear them? No? Didn't think so. The GG vs. editor power struggle continues...
Ciao-meow, GG Central Mgmt.

Message from GG Central. "Stars" don't take up a lot of our thinking time but...GG's editor admits to being excited about a screening (10 September 2008 in Washington, DC) of the Javier Bardem-produced film, "Invisibles." GG was furious at the lack of an invitation; she was somewhat mollified by the "ghastly oversight explanation." Phew. Now, GG's editor just needs to think about which scarf to wear with her one dress--yikes. (I know! But GG's editor also reads fashion & style magazines...don't judge, dears. Diana Vreeland reminded us that other people have to look at us, after all.)
A little summer silver screen relief. GG & her editor are big fans of Penélope Cruz. We are enjoying the current crop of fashion magazines with her on the cover (our copy of W is above) & are slipping into a Spanish mood. Sadly, we have not been to Spain (yet!) & we can't quite believe it.
GG& her editor also enjoy PC's hilarious cameos on Ugly Betty - one of the few TV shows we watch regularly (we don't have cable). Penélope is also involved in many charities & for that we thank her. Especially for her work with UNICEF. We're going to ask our friend Maria Caterina di Perugia for her sangria recipe & have a Spanish summer party. Pourquoi pas?
