Sunday Shopping - Back Where You Belong

GG's editor received this beautiful brooch from super-generous artist Tina Tarnoff in early summer. We'd hoped to have a camera by now to show how great it looks on Giulia's organic cotton collar. (Kidding. Her editor wore it all summer to hold together the top of two linen tunics. Currently the pin takes turns on two winter jackets.)

Tina is busier by the minute with holiday orders & so we can't wait for a camera. If you would like this lovely pendant on bow pin (based on an antique pin watch), you still have a chance to order it. Remember that Tina has stunning large paper-cuts, lots more elegant & romantic jewelry (see her Marie Antoinette necklaces & chokers), & 18 sets of cards based on her original paper-cuts.

Make sure you check out Tina's always-inspiring blog, Thought Patterns & also her novelist husband Terry Tarnoff's site. Here's a recent English Muse Polaroid Profile: Artist Tina Tarnoff in San Francisco.

We're off to a cookie bake today; we hope you have nice plans. Giulia is only interested in listening to Christmas music so she will stay home. (image via Thought Patterns/Tina Tarnoff/all rights reserved)

GG's Thanksgiving Fantasy

GG's editor just saw this painting on Tina Tarnoff's Thought Patterns Thanksgiving post. It's pure GG-fantasy. Visit Tina because she has the best attitude...isn't that always the way with people who are here by choice? Also, GG's editor is reminded that last Thanksgiving she sat with friends & ooh & ahhed at Tina's beautiful artwork & jewellry. She's busy busy busy creating so get your order in if you see something you'd like to give for Hanukkah (next week!) or Christmas or anyone other reason.

Back to watch Giulia watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Cheers!

Celebrate Hallowe'en with a Black Kitten

Pssst. Do you live in the Washington, DC-area? There's a wonderful idea on the Washington Animal Rescue League's website (in italics, below). Also enjoy artist Tina Tarnoff's Audition for a Black Cat. It's very funny. (photograph by Ralph Crane via LIFE archives)

ciao-meow/GG Central

In the spirit of Halloween, if you adopt any of our kittens with black hair on them, you will receive 50% off the adoption fee (only $25)! From now until the end of October 31, when you adopt a kitten (under 1 year old) that has any black fur on them, the adoption fee will only be $25. As always, if you adopt a cat that is over 1 year old, the adoption fee is waived. Come in to see the spectacular kittens we have available at the League who are awaiting their perfect, forever homes!

GG Reads Persephone Books

Busted. She listens to books read aloud to her. We recently received the lovely Persephone Catalogue, the Persephone Biannually, & a lovely bookmark. What more do you want? Some books? Yes, us too. We only have one so far. But go here, & read about the publishers, the Bloomsbury bookstore, & how to sign up for snail mail of your very own. Also, the really sweet Persephone staff writes a blog that we follow. (We were pleased to see their post about neighborhood book shops--they included the one we frequent in Washington, DC.) GG wants to go to London & hang out there. (What does she care about rain? She doesn't go outside unless in her travel bag.)

Persephone is devoted to publishing neglected literature written by women; the books are lovingly designed with such an eye to detail that you might forget to read it. (Don't do that!) Here is a beautifully photographed & written post by our pal in San Francisco, Tina Tarnoff of Thought Patterns. (While you're there, please check out Tina's beautiful art & jewellry. Some of which we do own & wear proudly.)

Sylvie on Sunday

The gorgeous original papercut of ballerina Sylvie Guillem is by San Francisco artist & all-round wonderful person Tina Tarnoff. She sent it to GG's editor this week as a surprise (included with a necklace we ordered). We thank the lovely Tina, of Thought Patterns, for sending Sylvie to Washington, DC...it's been far too long. We'll tell you all about the necklace next week.. GG wants to wear it but non, non, non. There are limits! Here's a little story about Sylvie Guillem on bricolage.

Have a good rest of the weekend (& a good week to our friends in Australia & New Zealand who are well into Monday, 7 December by now).
