GG on Holiday

Although Giulia will be home (supervised), she will be unable to post as her editor is taking the laptop on the road for a few days. Therefore, GG is on holiday. We hope very much that you will visit the good people at Darfur Peace & Development Organization (DPDO) while we are away. The Annual Report is available, baskets are ready to sell, & there's a lot of news. We'll post more photographs & more what-you-can-do after the Fourth of July.

Also: Ante Up for Africa's Fourth Annual World Series of Poker will be raising funds for DPDO on July 3. Please see all the news, here.

Please visit all of our blog friends, as well. They are on this page & on bricolage (GG's editor's place to blow off steam, employ first person pronouns, & work on other writing.)

Egrets

All types of egrets--we love them & associate them with Chincoteague/Assateague*. Here's a link to Birds of Assateague. That's where the little ponies hang out...you might remember Misty of Chincoteague. The link has some terrific videos of the scenery, birds, & sea. You just haven't lived unless you see the wild ponies running on the beach. A GGCM favorite place on the East Coast, perhaps in the States (outside of a few cities/towns).

*This barrier island, along with nearby islands and lagoons, is important for migrating birds. It's a World Biosphere Reserve of the United Nations because of its great ecological value.

The Outer Banks...friends check in from the seashore

A bit of visual relief between Darfur Olympic postings on a late summer's afternoon. This morning, GG received cellphone pix from Maria Caterina di Perugia (Hermione the Cool Cat's mum). They're having a wonderful time...GG asks when are we going to the sea? She'd love to climb those dunes...looks like a mini-jungle. Oh, maybe next year. We're still in stay-cation "Mediterranean" mode. Big xoxoxo to MCat & the family for remembering us during their Idyll on the Outer Banks. We're still working our way through the heaps of gorgeous basil, rosemary, sage, & catmint (GG's fave) picked a week ago last Sunday from their wonderful garden . The herb bunches look lovely in our Le Creuset jugs. xoxo
