Moving by Isabella - Week's End

Watch this mini-movie by Isabella who has the right attitude. (We must speak to GG about attitude.) Most of us don't like moving, even if it's to somewhere great. Just thinking of packing & moving makes our hair hurt. Isabella, whose mum is The English Muse, has a lovely way with the camera. Thanks for making us smile, Bella.

Pink October

A little break in the Made4Aid week as high winds are felling trees at GG Central. Our power supply is iffy. And it's scary, too! (But please do go & rescue Ella the Elephant or bid on some of the other lovely items.) This cool photograph by D Sharon Pruitt of Pink Sherbet Photography reminds us that it is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Please go here for more information; pester your family & friends to have check-ups. Believe us, it makes a difference.

Flowery window in Strasbourg - Week's End

We're sure we'd feel so much better here at GG Central if we had our empty flower box filled with these geraniums (or coral ones, perhaps). Busy working on D-Day material, so we'll see you Saturday. Of course, Strasbourg was right in the thick of it during the battle to liberate France, as the Allies moved eastward. GG's editor lived but a few hundred meters from Nazi bunkers; her bedroom, & indeed the entire building, had been occupied by the Germans 30 years before. We swear there were ghosts. France is much on our mind this week, this summer. [photograph used by permission from the lovely & talented Pipernille in Helsinki, see here for her photograph sets.]

When the day is over...

...you have an Italian sunset from lovely Giampaolo Macorig. So it was worth it then, yes? [taken in Terracina, Italy]

Cherry blossoms, part 2

These were taken by the hearty George Brett on a 5am foray to the Tidal Basin There will be some soon on the bricolage (bricoleuse to some of you) blog as well. Pretty brides, grooms, photographers taking pictures of photogs taking pictures of...you get the idea. It's called SNAP. GG loves to go outside (in her bag), but it's too cold & windy for her today. (Not to mention her editor). Therefore, many thanks to George for making his lovely photographs available. The National Cherry Blossom Festival runs through April 12 & here's the website; have a look even if you can't be here. Wish you were!

We hope to publish something more than photographs this coming week, depending on the whims of the ever-irritable computer.

Cherry blossoms

No time to be at all clever (don't say it!)...here are two lovely shots taken on Saturday, 28 March by photographer George Brett. He lives in the Washington, DC-area & has some wonderful sets on a variety of subjects. Give him a visit. We're off to see the blossoms for the first time in some years. Well, on purpose. As in purposefully walking towards them. GG wants to go very much; at this writing, a decision had yet to be made. We'll post blossoms at their peak throughout the festival...

Pinks...

...not the flowers. Rose, glowy pinks, dusty pinks. North African pink that goes well with oranges, greens, blues--actually anything. They're geniuses with color. From only alice's Marrakesh sets. She's added more colors for which we are grateful. The window/door/wall & color fixation continues. (And so does the laundry.)

Pink carnations

We can't resist showing more Real Simple makeovers on supermarket flowers. GGCM is partial to big fluffy pink carnations (before Carrie Bradshaw declared her affection), tightly packed in vases, jars, & old etched glass pitchers or glasses from the thrift (or Mom). RS shows affordable wedding bouquets; by loosening them & holding the ribbons, the principle applies at home. GG's pink nose is the same color as the flowers above. When she's naughty (every single day), her nose becomes pinker & cuter. Must be some sort of defense mechanism because it works.

[update: check out a pink post from A Cup of Jo]

ciao, bisou!
