She Lets Her Hair Down

...and helps you put it up, too. For hair advice & inspiration (& humor), visit Rubi Jones' She Lets Her Hair Down. She moved from New York to Paris & is wowing them there. If you have long hair, you should watch this lovely video. It's more of a little film than straight tutorial but it is instructive. And both techniques work (because we do both but it's nice to see how someone else does it.)

Lest you think the blog is only for those with long hair, there's plenty for everyone. (Including men.)

From Cycle Chic Copenhagen yesterday: "What may appear as a joke has proved to be yet another ridiculous incident involving uninformed police officers stopping cyclists for fictional infractions or to chastise them with self-invented rules." Update - we're checking out reports that this is a hoax. Very uncool, if so. The fact that ticketing has happened elsewhere made it seem probable. Will update. Still, check out the cool skirt-wearing posts at Cycle Chic. Also, there will be a #shortskirtcelebrationride in NYC.

Sunday Shopping - French Sailor Stripes

GG's editor had a bit of a fit last month & wrote about Sailor Stripe shopping. The gist is that we cannot stand seeing consumers taken advantage of, especially when in the throes of fetishizing French(style) material goods. It happens to the best of us; we're not judging.

Satisfy your stripe-y longing & read here (or click directly over to brittany-boutique.com). Usually, even with shipping, it's less expensive to buy these items directly from France. GG Central knows this from experience. People around the world do not want to wear stripes made by an exploited labor force. At the same time, stop spending at stores like J. Crew when they overcharge for items they stock (like the shirts above) from other sources. It's the same Saint James shirt. Yep.
